Locked Down in NYC...
Hunkered down in Chelsea, Manhattan, feeling the effects of Hurricane Sandy... trying to get out on Friday!

Hello and Welcome
August, 31st
Two exciting new things going on this weekend (actually three!):
The first is a feature at Lowepro.com about me and my work which features a conversation that I had recently with the Lowepro Creative Team and includes some of my recent work and thoughts ("Working for the Big Break"). It's a very nice write up and also features a product review on one of their bags, The Magnum, which is great for location studio work. I've worked with Lowepro for about 3 months now and can't say enough good things about them. So if you get a chance go over and check out their site and the feature.
Secondly I just launched my new website cassadykissam.com which has been in the works for the last couple of weeks and Im very excited to finally see it go live. It features some of my portfolio work and recent projects (which you can link directly to Facebook or Twitter from the site) as well as what hopefully will be my new blog on current work and random thoughts. Like I said in the previous post Ill continue to post entries both here and there. Please free to leave a comment or questions or just stop by and check out the images.
And actually the third exciting thing (at least locally) this weekend is that the city of Petaluma is planning on throwing a parade this Sunday for the Petaluma Little League Team who just got back from the Little League World Series-I'm hoping to go over with the family and take some photos of the "Small Town" heroes. So check back after the weekend and with any luck Ill post a couple images...and enjoy the (three day) Labor Day weekend!
Cheers,
Cassady Kissam
PS-Besides the banner shots of the feature and the website I also thought Id add a couple "out take" shots which weren't used in the Lowepro feature...

August 29th, 2012
Just fine tuning all of the bells and whistles for my new web site cassadykissam.com and gearing up to go live. If you are new to my work and would like to read up on some of my previous blogposts you can find them here at The Fifty Grand Project: http://thefiftygrandproject.blogspot.com. Ill be concurrently posting blog entries at both that site and here when I have time.
For the most part it will just be updates on personal projects and what Im currently working on and random thoughts which pop into my head. I also have a feature at Lowepro.com which should be going up in the next couple of days. Ill write up a separate post on that when it happens but if you get a chance go over and check out their site, they have lots of cool, useful gear and a neat layout. Anyway hope you enjoy the site and feel free to contact me with any questions or ideas.

Oakland Coliseum
My good friend JB had the chance to play in a baseball game at the Oakland Coliseum and I got to tag along and get some shots from the dugout/field level and check out the stadium. Pretty fun day...

Healdsburg P.D. Project & Lowepro
Healdsburg Police Department Project
July 13, 2012-
Just wrapping up a project for the Healdsburg Police Department which involved shooting a series of images of the officers on duty/in action which will be displayed throughout their new lobby this Summer.
Thanks to Lowepro I was adequately equipped for the assignment with the S&F Technical Vest, Light Utility Belt and 200 AW Lens Exchange Case. All of which were tactical lifesavers when you're stuck riding along in a squad car for 5 hours at a time in 100+ degree Sonoma County weather!
I've included a photo of my set-up which consisted of a 5d Mark II (24-105mm) and a back-up 30d (50mm f/1.8) and an EF 85mm f/1.2 in the Lens Exchange Case (or what I refer to as the "Quick Case"). The feature which makes the most sense on the Tech Vests that Lowepro makes (besides the secret James Bond zipper pocket on the chest!) are the Lapel Straps on either shoulder which allow you to strap your camera so that it hangs from your shoulder and frees up your hands.
At any rate it's been an exciting (although sometimes intense) project. Learned a lot about what a day in the life of law enforcement looks like (from the sublime to the serious) and I think (hopefully) captured a couple good images along the way....
